TV Drama

I am a bad mother. In the morning, when I'm trying to get ready for the day, I put the TV on the Disney Channel to occupy Owen's attention. It's the only way I can get everything done. Otherwise Owen would be begging me for attention. So yesterday morning when I heard Owen saying "Uh Oh" and the TV going silent I knew I was in trouble. I went into the room with the TV and the screen was blue.

Our DVR has gone out before...last Summer when lightning hit our chimney. So I figured our DVR went out again. So I decided to put a DVD on. That didn't work either. I still got a blue screen. I came to the conclusion that our TV must have blown some kind of wire that transmits the images from the DVR or DVD player. We were going to have to buy a new TV!!!

I went to work and told my coworkers about it. They were giving me suggestions on what kind of TV I should buy. I started looking at ads in the paper to see how much it was going to cost me. I was not happy.

I informed Scott of the situation when he got home from work. I thought he might try to go in and fix it, but I should have known better. Scott doesn't fix things. And when he attempts to fix things we usually end up paying hundreds of dollars to fix what he broke! I decided to go in and see if I could figure out what was wrong.

Then a light went off in my mind. When I had turned the TV off and on again the screen was staticy (sp?) before it went to the blue screen. And on the staticy screen there was a number 2 in the top right hand corner. The DVR and DVD only work on channel 4...Owen had changed the channel! I should have known he was up to something the second I heard "Uh Oh!" So I changed the channel back to 4 and there was Hannah Montana singing her little heart out!

Life is always an adventure with kids!

Happy Holly

Holly is such a fun baby. I thought Owen was a fun baby, but I think Holly is even more fun. Lately she has been laughing a lot. We don't even have to tickle her to get her to laugh either. She just sees humorous things and starts to laugh. For example, the other day I was sitting on the couch with Holly. I had my legs stretched out on the couch. Owen was running at the couch and throwing himself onto my legs...over and over again. Holly thought this was the funniest thing ever. She just kept on laughing every time he did it. Owen laughed when he was this age, but it was usually just when he was being tickled.

Holly is also learning to sit up. She will sit propped up on her hands for about 10 seconds at a time. It shouldn't be too long before she can sit up by herself for a long time. That will be nice. No more flat spots on her head!

Here's what happens after 10 seconds of sitting up...she falls over. Don't worry, there was a pillow there to soften the blow!

First Five

I found this on a friends blog and wanted to get creative myself! So the first 5 people to respond to this post will receive something made by me especially for you.

Of course there are some restrictions and limitations:
1} I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2} What I create will be just for you.
3} It will be done sometime this year.
4} You have no clue what it will be... it may be a story; it may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something; I may bake something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure.
5} I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on their blog.

It should be interesting to see what I can come up with...are you brave enough to join in on the fun?

2 Years Later....

Two years ago, when I was on maternity leave with Owen, I was looking around online and found a site called E-Poll. It was a site where you could answer surveys, earn points and redeem those points for gifts. So I signed up. Every so often I would get an e-mail from e-poll telling me they had a survey for me. Most of the surveys weren't too bad. A lot of them were questions about TV shows. I love TV shows! Surveys were usually worth 500 points.

So for 2 years I have been taking surveys and saving up my points for the big prize...a $30.00 gift certificate to Olive Garden! I needed 17,250 points to get it, and today I finally took the survey that took me up to that many points! My gift certificate is in the mail. I hope when I take Scott there he will appreciate all the hard work that I put into getting us that $30.00 gift card.

If you would like to take two years to earn a gift card too just go to www.epoll.com. Good luck!

Finally...A New Post!

I know I have been quite the blogging slacker lately. I think it's because I've been spending too much time playing Bowling Buddies on Facebook. But I'm back. Hopefully I can be a little more dedicated to my blog now.

We finally made it home from Utah and Arizona last week. We enjoyed the time we got to spend with our family, but we were very happy to make it home. I also started back part-time at work this week. Holly has been doing very well at daycare, and Owen seems happy to be back in his normal schedule. All the kids in his class were very happy to see him on Tuesday!

Holly turned 4 months old last week. I can't believe how fast the time flies! We took her to the doctor where she weighed in at a whooping 12 lbs 14 oz and measured 23 inches tall. It still amazes me that she is so much smaller than her brother was, but it also makes me happy. She is still fitting into some of her 0-3 month clothes!!!

Holly has been having some fun playing with toys since we got home too. Our friend Claudia gave us this exersaucer when she moved to Idaho right after Owen was born. Owen always enjoyed playing with it, and so does Holly. Right now her favorite part is the little spinning barrel with little balls in it. She gets very excited when it spins, and Owen is always happy to help her spin it!

Before we left for Utah we tried to put Holly on this tummy time toy that she got for Christmas. She HATED it then. Now she can hold her head up a lot better though, so she seems to enjoy it for about 5 minutes each day. After 5 minutes she's had it with holding her head up though.

Billy Homer McCoy, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Flagstaff Medical Center.
Mr. McCoy was born in Stith, Texas, to Willie Ruth Ellington and Thermon Emmett McCoy. He grew up in Texas and Arizona where he attended Isaac Junior High and North Senior High School. He later served time in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was injured while serving in Okinawa and was returned to civilian life after his honorable discharge. Week 3...1 More To Go?

I was fully prepared this last week to go home tomorrow. But plans have changed. Last Saturday night my parents were going to the Post Office Christmas Party (my mom works at the post office). I was going to be home alone, so I called up my friend Mindee and invited her and her son to come over. The above picture is me and my kids with Mindee and her son Ben. Mindee brought the game Boggle over for us to play. We were into our 3rd round (and I was getting my butt kicked) when the phone rang. I answered it and the man on the other end asked for my father. I told him that he wasn't home. So he asked for my mom...who wasn't home either. He told me he was calling on behalf of my grandmother and asked if I had the number for one of my uncles. So I found my uncles number for him, and he told me that my grandfather had been in an accident.

Long story short...my grandfather was riding his bicycle and got in an accident. The story I have heard is that he was probably riding his bike downhill and hit some gravel. When they found him he had no pulse. They revived him. He has a lot of broken bones though, including his neck and back. He is on a ventilator, and it doesn't look good for him. So after much debating I decided to stay out west for a little bit longer. I know I won't regret staying, but I would probably regret going home. We are now flying home on February 12th. Right now we are getting ready to drive back down to Arizona. At least my flight home is going to be from Phoenix, so we only have one long drive ahead of us, not two!

We did have a good week though. On Saturday I was able to meet up with 2 of my favorite roommates from college. DeDe is on the left, Amber on the right. I haven't seen Amber in almost 10 years, so it was great to be able to see her again. I think we are still as cute as we were 10 years ago too...if not cuter!

I finally got a picture of Holly with her Uncle Marc! Now if only she was wearing both her socks...

We blessed Holly on Sunday, February 1st. She still fit into her blessing dress...YAY!!! Holly was blessed by her Grandpa Owens.

After the blessing we had family come over for TONS of food. Here is Holly with her Aunt Danielle, my brother Alan's wife.

Holly was pooped after all the family left. There wasn't as much family there as we had planned because of my grandfather's accident. My mom wasn't able to be there because she needed to go down and be with her father. But before she left she made a ton of food. She's a great mom.

Owen found a new hat....it's almost as big as he is!!! Too bad he only got to wear it for a few pictures.

I love this picture of Owen and his cousin Jacob. Owen was happy to have somebody to share a shopping cart car with. He didn't even try to steal anything this time!

Owen with his cousins Lincoln and Gabriel (Marc's kids).

Owen and Gabriel loved playing with BALLOONS!!! Thank goodness for cheap entertainment.

And Holly is still cute!
I better get back to packing now.
