Think Pink

I've finally had success finding some girly clothes that I liked! Last Saturday night Owen and I were running a bunch of errands and we happened to drive by Kohl's. I always seem to have luck finding something there, so I decided to try it out. They were having a pretty decent sale, but then again it seems like everything at Kohl's is always on sale. I think they just mark up the prices by 50% then say they are on sale for 50% off. But I was still happy with what I found. Now my little nameless girl won't have to be naked for the first few months of life! I did seem to gravitate towards the pink clothes...but 90% of the clothes for girls were pink. I'm glad I'm not one of those girls who hates pink!

Bonus picture for today. I went upstairs this morning to get some clothes for Owen to wear and this is how I found him when I came back...standing in the crock pot looking out the window! I guess he wanted that extra inch of lift to get a better view!! Kids are so clever.

Clothes

I want to know who said baby girls clothes are cuter than baby boys clothes. I went to the mall yesterday, walked from store to store trying to find something cute for my little girl. I found nothing! I just ended up buying two new shirts for Owen. So I want to know where all these cute girl clothes are...or my baby is going to be wearing a lot of blue! I know they've got to be somewhere out there....

Flashback Friday - - - Ho Ho Ho...Green Giant!

OK...I'm steeling this idea from Jenn, who stole it from somebody else. I probably won't flashback every Friday though...only when I have something that seems worthy of flashing back!

When I was in high school I was a little crazy. I was looking through my closet the other day when I found my Jolly Green Giant T-Shirt that my friends Alisha and Aleisha had given me for my birthday (At least I think it was my birthday...it was a gift for something). So then I remembered why they had given it to me. One year for Halloween I decided to dress up like the Jolly Green Giant. I have no idea why. For details you would have to ask my friend Alisha. She seems to remember EVERYTHING! I wish I had a memory like her. But on the day of Halloween I borrowed a knit green dress from my mom's friend (It was mainly a HUGE green t-shirt with a belt, but it was considered a dress) My dad took me to Fred Myers and we bought some face paint which I seem to remember being more gold than green. I also used a green knit hat to cover my head. I looked nothing like the Jolly Green Giant, except the fact that I was wearing all green! We went to the high school and people kept asking me what I was...nobody guessed the Jolly Green Giant though. I think they thought I was a giant booger or something. It was not a pretty sight! Afterwords we went to Trafalga in Orem, which is where we got these picture taken. I am of course the one on the top...then comes Aleisha, Souk and Alisha. It was a fun night though....I have some great memories from hanging out with these girls in high school! Sometimes I miss those carefree days. Now we are all grown up with families of our own. At least Alisha, Aleisha and I are. I'm not sure about Souk. The last time I saw her was a few days after I got married. I hope everything is good with her though. Maybe someday we'll meet again!

Forever Young

Driving to work today I heard a song that I've heard a million times before, but this time it made me start crying like crazy. I do that a lot now that I'm pregnant. Thank goodness I have hormones to blame it on! It's interesting how having a child can change your view of the world. It turned this song I've heard hundreds of times into one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Who knew Bob Dylan could write something so touching. The version I heard was by The Pretenders though. It speaks to all my hopes and dreams for my children.

Forever Young
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

New Driving Age?

Owen is all for lowering the legal driving age to 18 months old. Every time we get in or out of the car we have to have a fight over who gets to drive and who has to ride in the car seat. I try to give him a little "driving" time when we get home, and we've started heading out to the car 10 minutes early every morning to give him a little time at the wheel. While he plays in the front seat I sit in the back seat and read him scriptures. It's a good arrangement while the weather is nice. Hopefully the appeal of the wheel won't last into the winter!

Yay for Nursery!

Yesterday was Owen's first day in nursery. I must say I'm liking this nursery thing already. It did feel a bit strange to not have to run up and down stairs all during Sunday School, but it was a good strange! He has two wonderful teachers, Sister Yard and Sister Vasquez, who said he did great. I checked on him once and he was just sitting at the table with the teachers eating gold fish. The best part is that he didn't sleep during Relief Society. I tried to keep him awake on the ride home, but that didn't work as you can tell from the picture below. But the short cat nap home didn't keep him up all afternoon as I feared it would. We got home and he took a three hour nap! Hooray for nursery!

The Granville Scoop

This past Saturday we had BEAUTIFUL weather here in New England! One of our favorite activities on a nice day like that is to go to the Granville Scoop in Granville Massachusetts. It's this little farm where they make their own ice-cream, and while you are eating it you can walk around and look at (smell) the cows that donated the milk. They also have some goats, llama's and donkeys. It's a great ride up there and Granville is one of those quaint New England town's we all wish we lived in. I didn't get any pictures from Saturday because the batteries died on my camera. But here are a few from the last time we went.

Here's Owen running around with ice-cream on his face.

Me and Owen enjoying some ice-cream. We let him eat his own last Saturday and he was covered in it! Maybe that wasn't such a good idea!

I love this picture...That is one of the goats sticking his head out of the fence and giving Owen a kiss! OK, maybe he was just trying to lick ice-cream off his face, but that sounds really gross, so I prefer the kiss!

Sick Again

How can I possibly be sick again? The day after memorial day I came down with a horrible cold that left me coughing and breathing through my mouth for two weeks because my nose was so stuffed up. I even ended up at the ER because I thought I had broke my ribs from coughing so much. Fortunately I had only sprained my ribs. That was painful enough. I can't imagine how painful it must be to break a rib! I had to spend four days in bed though to get well enough so I could pick my son up again. It probably wouldn't have been so bad if I could have taken something for it, but there really isn't any recommended cold medication for a pregnant woman except for lots of juice and chicken soup!

So about 2 weeks ago I finally got over that horrible cold. Then this Wednesday I started feeling that tickle in my nose that signals a cold is on the way. Shouldn't there be some kind of a law that a pregnant woman can only get sick once during her pregnancy! So far I've just got a bit of a runny nose...It doesn't seem as bad as the last cold either. So I'm hoping it will go away without too much of a fight. I guess this is what I get to look forward to living with a toddler, or as one of my coworker said, "A walking petrie dish of disease" But I don't think that's a nice thing to call my sweet little Owen!!!

9 Years and 18 Months

My baby boy turned 18 months old today. I can't believe how fast time is flying by. Here is a picture of him a few days after he was born, and then two pictures from yesterday. He's changed quite a bit in the last 18 months! He's a great little man...I'm so grateful to have him in my family.
Today is also my 9 year wedding anniversary! It was 9 years ago that I did one of the most crazy things ever when I went to Las Vegas and got married to a man that lived on the other side of the country. These last 9 years haven't always been the best of times, but we've lived, learned and made the best out of our situation. Scott is a great father to Owen and a very caring husband. So Happy Anniversary!

The Name Game

It's been two weeks since we found out we are having a girl, and we are no closer to finding a name for her! This is very frustrating to me because we knew right away what Owen's name was going to be. It's a lot of pressure trying to figure out a name that somebody is going to have to carry around for the rest of their life! This would be a lot easier if we were having a boy! We had already picked out the name Isaac. So now the search for a girls name is on.

I want something that everybody has heard before, but that isn't in the top 25 names for girls last year. When I was growing up nobody had ever heard my name before, so every time I met somebody new I had to repeat my name and then spell it out for them...I don't my daughter to have to go through that. I came up with 4 names I thought I could live with; Cara, Claire, Kristen or Quinn. Then I set up a poll for friends and family to vote on which name they liked the best. That was going OK until one of my brothers decided to vote American Idol style for Kristen a couple hundred times! Now I'm not sure if one of those names is what I want either! This is so frustrating. I always thought it would be so easy to name a girl. I loved the name Lindsey from the time I was a little girl and I always said I would name my first daughter Lindsey. But when I saw her on the ultrasound I knew her name wasn't Lindsey.

So the search goes on. Hopefully she has a name before her first birthday, but I'm not very hopeful with the way things are going right now.

Wish me luck!

Here Goes!

Everybody's doing it, so I'm jumping on the bandwagon! I have just discovered that so many people I know have blogs. I love reading them every day to catch up on my friends lives, so I figured I would start one too. Be patient with me though, I'm just learning. Here's to happy blogging!
